I love self-help books, and I always make allowances for the fact that they are often written by doctors, not writers. I don't expect great literature, but I don't like being talked down to, either. If you are going to pontificate, you'd better have something original to say. This book makes much ado about nothing special. Can you infer the difference in "Cheap Forgiveness" and "Genuine Forgiveness"? I can, and it wouldn't take 24 pages to explain it to you. I'll bet you can define "Acceptance" in less than 66 pages as well. There's barely enough information here for a 2 hour lecture, let a lone a full book. It's common sense, and I suppose it might speak to someone who isn't terribly self-aware, but I can't recommend it. I found it to be an irritating read. Save a tree, watch Dr.Phil. |
